R. Blaine Roberts, 92, of Crisfield, died Friday, November 4, 2016 at his home.

Born in Clara, MD ("Muddy Hole") on January 29, 1924, he was a son of the late Russell Alva and Emma Crockett Roberts. He had been making his home in Crisfield for 63 years.

A graduate of Wicomico Senior High School, he was Chief Auditor for the State of MD Fuel Tax Division for 30 years until his retirement in 1986. He also worked for the former Eastern Shore Public Service and the former Home Beneficial Insurance Company.

Mr. Roberts was a signalman in the United States Army Air Corps and was a veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater. He held life memberships with the Crisfield Elks Lodge #1044, Stanley Cochrane Post #16 American Legion, and the former VFW Post #8274. He was also member of the HAM Radio #925 Club, S.C.A.R.E. Society and was examiner for HAM Radio operators for the Delmarva Peninsula. He found fellowship and company through the friends from all over the world that he met on the radio.

In addition, he enjoyed gardening and had a great love for poodles. He had numerous pet poodles throughout the years including his favorites "Rufus Pierre", "Charlie" and "Junior".

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carolyn Evans Roberts of Crisfield; two sons, Gregory G. Roberts and wife Jane D. of Stephenson, VA and Christopher Blaine Roberts and fiancé Theresa M. Collins of Salisbury; grandchildren, Brian C. Steward of Wilmington, NC, Scott M. Roberts of Salisbury, and Kristin M. Spurrier and husband Matthew of Ocean Pines; a great grandson, Alexander Blaine Spurrier of Ocean Pines; step-grandchildren, Steve Sitcler of Stephenson, Amy Roach and husband Scott of Inwood, WV, and Daniel Roberts and wife Jessica of Morgantown, NC; step-great-grandchildren, Zachary Roach and Caitlin Roach of Inwood, and Dylan Roberts and Gwen Roberts of Morgantown; step-great-great-grandchild, Andy Roach of Inwood; nephews, Michael Roberts and wife Jean of Stevensville, MD and Brady Roberts of Salisbury; great niece, Lisa Smith of Chester, MD; great nephew, Mark Roberts of Centreville, MD; great-great-niece, Kristin Smith; his close friends, Sterling Clough, John Watson, and Jesse Carmine; and his wonderful caregivers, Margaret Sue Sterling, Trisha Esley, Karen Coulbourne, Donna Smith, and Annette Whitelock.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Winne Roberts on January 30, 2006; his second wife, Harlene Nelson Roberts on September 8, 1979; his brothers, Wilmer C. Roberts on September 7, 1945 and Baby Roberts who died in on October 23, 1920; and his step-grandson, Anthony Galloway in May 2, 2015.

A graveside memorial service and urn interment will be Friday, November 11, 2016 at 12 noon at Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield. The Rev. Stephen S. Willing will officiate.
