Obituary

Philip Taylor "Tater" Clayton, 65, of Marion Station, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Crisfield September 18, 1950, he was a son of the late Paul Franklin and Mary Ruth Taylor Clayton.

A graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1969, he was a dedicated employee of D.J.'s Wash & Gas for over 30 years. He was a faithful member of Christ Fellowship Bible Church in Marion, where he was a charter member, enjoyed attending all church events, and was very instrumental in the construction of the new building. He was an avid Redskins, Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. fan. He enjoyed going fishing and he loved dining at Watermen's Inn.

He is survived by a brother, Paul D. Clayton and wife Bonnie of Wilmington, NC; a sister, Paula J. Clayton of Salisbury; nieces and nephews, Danielle Simmons of Cassopolis, Michigan, Paul Clayton, Jr. of Kentucky, John David Clayton of Watford City, North Dakota, Michelle Clayton of Wilmington, NC, and Kelly Dykes and husband Joe of San Diego, CA; several great-nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lucy and Harold Taylor and Henry and Gertrude Clayton; and a brother, Phillip Taylor Clayton who died at age 2 ½.

Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Steve Willing will be held Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 2 PM at Christ Fellowship Bible Church in Marion where friends may call one hour prior. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
