IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peggy
Evans
January 7, 1943 – February 6, 2024
Peggy "Peg" Brimer Evans, 81 of Smith Island, Maryland was born to this earth on January 7, 1943. She left this world to be in Jesus' presence on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. She was surrounded by family that loved her, while listening to Elvis Presley gospel music.
Her family is fortunate to have the peace of knowing, she has gone on to heaven to greet many loved ones who passed before her, including her husband of 46 years, Leonard Stanley Evans Sr., her parents Jesse and Louise Brimer, her brother Jesse Brimer Jr., and her grandson Colby Evans.
She has left a lot of loved ones behind that will feel the loss of her presence severely, including her children Lenny Evans Jr. & wife Faye, Darren Evans & wife Leah; her grandchildren Rochalla Jones & husband Bobby, Megan Evans, Haylie Evans; her great grandchildren: Lily Higdon, Gabrielle "Gabby" Higdon, Wyatt Jones; her sister-in-law Mitzi Brimer; and her grand-dog Asher Evans.
Peg never met a stranger. Chances are if you ever visited Smith Island, when Ruke's store was open, you talked to her and she prepared one of the best subs you have ever eaten. She may have even left one for you, in her mailbox for a late-night pickup.
Peg was a life-long New York Yankees fan. She loved attending games and getting team members autographs. She and Ruke could regularly be heard sharing the team's successes and discussing ways of avoiding any bad luck that could affect the game.
As a long-time member of the Ewell United Church and the Ladies Aid, Peg frequently contributed to island fundraisers and helping those in need in the community.
For those that knew Peg well, you may remember her making statements like: "Gaahh, Are you bad off?", "Be Careful; love you!", "I don't know how we got this old.", "My hair's cute today."
A celebration of Peg's life will be held at Ewell United Methodist Church at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 10, 2024. The Captain Jason I and Captain Jason II will be taking passengers from the Crisfield City Dock at 12:30pm and will be returning following the 2pm services and the funeral reception. A viewing will be held Friday, February 9, 2024 from 7pm-9pm at the church.
