PEARL E. BYRD, 92, of Crisfield, died Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield where she had been a resident for 6 years.
Born in Brownsville, Pennsylvania on November 2, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Lena Aldridge Pollette. Her husband, James R. Byrd, Jr., died March 13, 1965.
She was a seamstress for the former Crisfield Cap Factory and was a cashier for a grocery store while living in Ohio.
She was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Westover for many years. She loved her family dearly.
She is survived by three children, Jamie Byrd and his wife Carrie, Richard L. Byrd, and Judy L. Evans, all of Crisfield; four grandchildren, Lance Evans, Ashley Parks and her husband Christopher, and Aaron Byrd, all of Crisfield and Kristen McLaughlin and her husband Charles of Federalsburg; two sisters, Mildred Supansic and her husband Lawrence and Geraldine Ward and her husband Bill, all of Grindstone, Pennsylvania; a brother-in-law, Vernon Tawes of Princess Anne; and 24 nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, William Dennis "Denny" Evans in 2004; four sisters, Louise Bartowick, Elsie Moon, Lillian Maczko, and Dorothy Marklew; two brothers, James Pollette and Joseph Pollette; a sister-in-law, Peggy Tawes; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William E. and Margie Byrd; and her mother-in-law, Bertie E. Byrd.
Graveside funeral services and interment will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at 11 AM at Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield. The Rev. Harvey Tyler will officiate. There will be no public viewing.
