Obituary

PAUL FRANKLIN TYLER, SR., 74, of Crisfield, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at his home following the heroic act of saving the life of his precious wife.

Born in Crisfield January 19, 1936, he was a son of the late Hance and Agnes Johnson Tyler.

He was a waterman and a United States Marine Corps veteran.

He was a Charter Member and Elder of Christ Fellowship Bible Church in Crisfield and was also active in the Crisfield Wesleyan Church where he attended the Sunday evening services. He was a Godly man of great faith who enjoyed memorizing scripture, preaching and teaching Sunday School.

He enjoyed hunting, trapping, taxidermy, and building birdhouses for his favorite bird, the Purple Martin. He was very devoted to his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary Daniels Benton Tyler of Crisfield; his children, Harold K. Tyler and wife Lien of Hawaii, and David K. Tyler of Salisbury; his step-children, Rick Benton and wife Cathi of Florida, Paul Benton and wife Charlotte of Chance, Gerald Benton and wife Brenda of Deal Island, Mark Benton and wife Gail of Eden and Cindy Swift, whom he was like a father to, and husband Billy Gene of Crisfield; his grandchildren, Paul F. "Trip" Tyler, III, Melinda Tyler, Andrew Tyler, Matthew Tyler and Daniel Tyler, and Billy Gene Swift, Jr. and Joanne Swift who were close to his heart. He is also survived by his siblings, Ruth Hennigan of Baltimore, Esther Friedel of Seaford, Sarah Tyler-Chisholm and Harvey Tyler, both of Pocomoke; and numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Paul F. Tyler, Jr., and a brother, Bill Tyler, Jr.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior. Pastors Stephen Willing and Bob Daniels will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
