Patsy Joyce Mills, 93, of Crisfield, died Friday, September 15, 2023 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.
Born September 4, 1930 in Buffalo, NY, she was a daughter of the late John Horace and Evelyn Laird Blades. Her husband of 63 years, C. Eugene Mills, died January 8, 2011.
A graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1947, she was secretary for the Somerset County School System, Sarah M. Peyton School, Crisfield High School, and the Central Office for more than thirty years.
She was member of Immanuel United Methodist Church where she was active in the Church Bazaar, Soup Ministry, and served as Treasurer for many years of the United Methodist Women, former Chesapeake Chapter #28 Order of Eastern Star, Women's Civic Club, and the Tawes Museum.
She loved traveling with her husband and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by two children, Donna M. Sterling and husband Steve of Crisfield and Leslie Mills and wife Dawn of Venice, Florida; four grandchildren, Steve Sterling, Jr. and wife Kristie of Bowie, MD, David Sterling and wife Kristin of Arlington, VA, Derek Mills and wife Carolyn of Wildomar, CA, and Caila Mills and husband Joe Malloy of Bondsville, MA; five great grandchildren, Landon, Allie, Andie, Amelia, and Maeve; two brothers, Don Blades and wife Anne of Marion, MD and Dan Blades and wife Maureen of Bowie, MD; a brother-in-law, Jim Feeser of Glenview, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Deanna Feeser; and a nephew, Benjamin Blades.
A memorial service officiated by the Rev. Jim Riley will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11 AM at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Crisfield. Urn interment will be at a later date in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to be sent to Crisfield Fire Department, P.O. Box 591; Immanuel U. M. Church Memorial Fund, c/o Robert H. Bradshaw, Jr., 306 W. Main Street; or Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home Activities Fund, 201 Hall Highway; all Crisfield, MD 21817.
