Obituary

Patricia Louise Horner, 69, of Crisfield, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 22, 2014 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury following complications of Parkinson's Disease.

Born January 8, 1945 in Salisbury and raised in Deal Island, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Clara Louise Harrison Abbott.

A graduate of Deal Island School class of 1963, she was a homemaker, home health care provider, Hospitality Aid at Blue Ridge Nursing Home in Stuart, VA and Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield, and was a substitute teacher in Dorchester and Talbot Counties.

Together with her husband, they accepted the call of God and pastored churches in Maryland and Virginia including Hurlock Wesleyan Church, Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Trappe, Five Forks Wesleyan Church in Stuart, VA, and Somerset Free Methodist Church in Crisfield. She embraced the love and mercy of Jesus and enjoyed spreading that message through word and deed.

She loved her Heavenly Father, her family, cardinals, flowers, gardening, cooking, and crafts.

She is survived by her husband of almost 52 years, Samuel T. Horner, Jr. of Crisfield; two sons, Samuel T. Horner, III and friend Stacey Turner of Crisfield and Curt R. Horner of Stroudsburg, PA; two daughters, Sherry L. Goins of Crisfield and Angela Horner Pendry and husband Mark of Crisfield; grandchildren, Ashlie Marshall and husband Micah, Brianna Cullen, Patricia Goins, Samuel Horner, IV, Chase Pendry, and Mya Pendry; two great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry Sonny Abbott and wife Alice of Deal Island; a sister, Phyllis Abbott of Cambridge; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kirwin Abbott; three sisters, Ellen, Virginia, and Winifred Abbott; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Samuel T., Sr. and Laura Horner; a son-in-law; and a daughter-in-law.

Funeral services officiated by Rev. Terry Riggin will be held Friday, September 26, 2014 at 1 PM at St. John's U. M. Church in Deal Island where there will be a visitation one hour prior. The viewing will be private for family only. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
