Pamela Marshall Eskridge, 63, of Tangier Island, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at her home.
Born December 20, 1951 in Nassawadox, and raised on Tangier, she was the beloved daughter of Wanda Wheatley Marshall of Tangier and the late Teddy R. Marshall.
A graduate of Tangier High School, she was owner and operator of New Creations Salon at her home on Tangier for years. Her most passionate years were spent visiting Mission of Mercy Orphanage in Nigeria. There, she was known as Auntie Pam by almost four hundred orphans. She traveled there thirteen times in eight years and even has two grandkids adopted from the orphanage. While at home, she enjoyed facilitating Bible studies for ladies, and always had a heart for young women and helping them as wives and mothers. She loved biking, kayaking, and spending time with her "grands." She made her home a haven for young people, who knew they were always welcomed there. She was thrilled to hear her grandsons and their friends rough-housing during a sleep-over. She knew what was important. Her desire to please her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ permeated every area of her life, and while we mourn, we rejoice that she is with Him.
She was a devoted member of the New Testament Church.
Along with her mother, she is survived by her childhood sweetheart and loving husband of 50 years, William Thomas Eskridge, Jr. of Tangier; three children, William Thomas "Tommy" Eskridge, III and wife Claudine of Tangier, Miriam Anderson and husband Andy of Jacksonville, Florida, and Kara Crockett and husband Jordan of Jacksonville, NC; two sisters, Beverly Thorne and husband John of Atlantic, VA and Gina Crockett and husband Robert of Onancock, VA; a brother Teddy Ross Marshall, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Tangier; 14 grandchildren, Jefferson Anderson, Thomas Reed Eskridge, Jamie Anderson, Jordon Ray Eskridge, Christian Anderson, Job Crockett, Kammi Anderson, James Anderson, Benjamin Eskridge, Micah Anderson, Will Eskridge, IV, Ajuma Crockett, Levi Anderson, and Inga Anderson.
Along with her father, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Baby Eskridge, who died before birth.
A celebration of her life officiated by Pastor John Flood, Duane Crockett, and Johnny Thorne will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Swain Memorial U. M. Church.
