P. DAVID DeMAURO, 61, a resident of Crisfield for the past 23 years, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at his home.
Born in Princeton, New Jersey on September 27, 1948, he was a son of Edith Griffis DeMauro of Crisfield and the late Peter A. DeMauro who died in 1989.
He was a 1966 graduate of Hun School Prep in Princeton, New Jersey, and attended the University of Delaware for two years. He was a former land surveyor and also worked for a local tree surgeon company.
David was an avid fencer who enjoyed competitive fencing and teaching. He also enjoyed playing lacrosse, was an equestrian dressage trainer, and loved to read.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his special friend, Nellie Sue Witt of Goochland, Virginia; four siblings, Karen D. Murphy and her husband James R. Murphy of Severna Park, Maryland, Dr. Michael DeMauro and his wife Delphine DeMauro of Savannah, Georgia, Steven DeMauro and his companion, Monica Fieber of Garibaldi, Oregon, and Marie Elizabeth Heal and her husband George Heal of Lincolnville, Maine; and his nieces and nephews, Sean, Colleen and Brendan Murphy, Michael, Daniel, Holt and Blair DeMauro, Steve DeMauro, Jr., and Nicholas Heal. Numerous other relatives also survive him.
A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 11 AM at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Westover where the family will receive friends one hour prior. Father William Porter will officiate. A reception will follow at 12:30 PM at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church Hall in Pocomoke City.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers are requested to be sent to the Tawes Nursing Home New Building Fund, 201 Hall Highway, Crisfield, Maryland 21817.
