Obituary
Owen Ashton Parks, 85, of Tangier Island, VA, former manager of the Tangier Airport, died on Friday, October 23, 2009 at his home.
Born on Tangier Island he was the son of the late Roland Lee Parks and Estelle Pruitt Parks. He was a World War II Army Veteran.
He was a member of the Swain Memorial United Methodist Church, past commander of the Tangier VFW Post and also a member of the AARP.
Surviving is his wife, Isabelle Thorne Parks, two sons, Owen Ashton Parks, Jr. and Hugh James Parks, both of Wilmington, DE; one daughter, Rose Lee Parks of Tangier; two brothers, Bill Parks of Tangier, and Ralph "Skip" Parks of Salisbury; two sisters, Annette Diehl of Reedville, VA, and Joyce Shores of Tangier. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey Lynn Parks and David Wayne Parks; one brother, Bach Parks, and one sister, Betty Pruitt.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 30th, at 2:00 PM at the Swain Memorial United Methodist Church with Mr. William Eskridge officiating. Interment will be private in the Thorne Family Cemetery on Tangier.
