Obituary

NORMA EVANS MARSHALL, 82, of Tylerton, Smith Island, Maryland, died Saturday, August 18, 2007 at her home.

Born and raised on Rhodes Point, Smith Island, she was a daughter of the late Merrill and Myrtie Evans Tyler. Her first husband, Leonard B. Evans, died in 1979. She had been making her home on Tylerton since 1981 when she married her second husband.

A homemaker, Mrs. Marshall was an active member of her community. She held memberships with Union United Methodist Church on Tylerton where she served in the United Methodist Women, Tylerton Fire & Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary, DAR, and the Smith Island Co-op. She also loved crocheting, especially afghans, and was a great cook.

She is survived by her husband, Frederick G. Marshall of Tylerton; one son, Leonard S. Evans and wife Peggy of Ewell, Smith Island; four daughters, Sandra O. Thomas, Marilyn E. Brimer and husband Cliff, and Becky Tyler, all of Crisfield and Tina Evans Corbin and husband Ronnie of Tylerton; four step-children, Carolyn Evans and husband Muggsy of Crisfield, Russell Marshall and companion Tom Walker of Upper Marlboro, Philip Marshall and wife Cindy of Crisfield, and Dallas Marshall and wife Laurie of Marion; one brother, Lester Tyler of Rhodes Point; six grandchildren, Chris Owens, Lenny Evans, Darren Evans, Julie Laird, Marsha Melvin and Taylor Corbin; five step-grandchildren, Troy Evans, Anita Evans, Brittany Marshall and Storm Marshall and Jody Soukup; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William Paul Evans, who died in infancy; and six brothers and sisters, Vincent Tyler, Maggie Smith, Blanche Kellam, Lillian Marshall, Gloria Marsh and Rowena Evans and Lorraine Evans.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 2 PM at Union U. M. Church on Tylerton, Smith Island. Rev. Rick Edmund will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday morning from 10-11 AM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield or Wednesday evening from 7-9 PM at the church on Tylerton. Interment will be in Calvary U. M. Church Cemetery on Rhodes Point.
