Obituary

Nellie Mae Smith, a resident of Aurora Senior Living in Princess Anne for the past nine years, and formerly of Aberdeen, MD, died Tuesday, October 28, 2014. She was 105 years old.

Born in Wye Mills, MD on September 23, 1909, she was a daughter of the late Mordecai and Nellie Skinner Price. Her husband, G. Walter Smith, died in 1952.

A homemaker, she was a high school graduate and attended the University of Maryland. She was a member of Wye Mills United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a niece, Jean Corkran Brosnan and husband Jerry of Pennsylvania; three nephews, Dan Corkran of Rhodesdale, MD, Larry A. Price and wife Fran of Wilson, NC, and Bob Carson and wife June of Havre de Grace, MD; great-great- nieces and great-great-nephews, Sarah and Mark Brosnan, Jill and James Price and Debbie Price Longo; and a special family friend, Ben Smith of Aberdeen.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, G. Walter Smith, Jr. in 1963; her step-daughter, Ann Charles Smith; her brother, M. Myron Price in 1979; her sister, Anna Corkran in 1998; a nephew, Donald M. Price in 1991; and two great-nephews, David M. Price in 2009 and Donald P. "Donnie" Price in 2014.

A graveside service at Chesterfield Cemetery in Centerville, MD will be held Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 1:30 PM. The Rev. Howard Embert will officiate.
