Naomi G. Thomas, 87, of Crisfield, died Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville.
Born in Fort Pierce, Florida on January 24, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Bartow and Lesi Newell Griner. Her husband, Roy A. Thomas, Sr., died July 7, 2004. She had been making her home in Derwood, MD with her daughter for the past two and a half years.
In her younger years, she worked as a seamstress at the former Crisfield Cap Factory. She later retired from Rubberset Corporation and was a licensed day care provider following her retirement.
She attended the Crisfield Church of God and enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables, gardening, and country music. She was also a very talented seamstress.
She is survived by six children, Sonia Soler and husband Raymond of Boothbay, Maine, Roy A. Thomas, Jr. of Ridgeley, West Virginia, Preston B. Thomas of Buxton, North Carolina, Naomi Matilda "Tillie" Hale and husband Gary of Derwood, Maryland, Marchia Ann Ward and husband Phillip of Fruitland, and Marjorie "Margie" Riggin of Crisfield; a granddaughter whom she raised as her own, Lynn Thomas Jump and husband Michael of Salisbury; 13 additional grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Fay Finch.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 15, 2016 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a viewing will be one hour prior. The Rev. Philip Morris will officiate. Interment will follow in the VFW Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation of Maryland.
