NANCY NUTTLE TAWES, 83, of Crisfield, died at home on Thursday, July 12, 2012 following a long term illness.
Born in Baltimore on February 23, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Harold Creston and Florence Funk Nuttle.
A 1946 graduate of Western High School in Baltimore, and a 1950 graduate of Washington College, , she was a school teacher at Mt. Airy Elementary School, and after her marriage in 1953, was a substitute teacher in Crisfield.
Very active in her community, she was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church where she was active in the UMW, Former Grey Ladies of McCready Hospital (now Jr. Auxiliary Board), past regent of DAR, Girl Scout Leader, former Chesapeake Chapter #28 O.E.S., MYF counselor, Women's Eastern Shore Society in Baltimore, and the P.E.O. Eastern Shore Group.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she loved her family, especially cooking family dinners. She also enjoyed playing Bridge and crafts. She was a very special lady who was true blue in all she did.
She is survived by her husband of almost 59 years, Arthur Wellington "Billy Jim" Tawes, Jr. of Crisfield; three children, Arthur Harold "Artie" Tawes of Crisfield, Jane Tawes King and husband Johnny of Dames Quarter, and Susan Tawes Corbin and husband Steven of Crisfield; five grandchildren, Ashley Lynn King and fiancé Seaton Kreyer of Myrtle Beach, SC, Andrew John "Andy" King of Chicago, Victoria Grace Corbin of Crisfield, Amy Elizabeth Corbin of Crisfield, and Quincy Scott Corbin of Crisfield.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 3 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev.'s Kim Gilson and Tad Maroon will officiate. Interment will follow in Asbury Cemetery in Crisfield.
