Obituary

Nadine Raye Nelson, 55, of Marion Station, died Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

Born in Baltimore on October 20, 1956, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Joseph Coombs, Jr. and Margaret Theresa Schoenfeldt Coombs.

She formerly worked at the Maryland Department of Tourism until she became disabled. She enjoyed gardening, reading, collecting things, and being with people.

She is survived by her husband of 14 ½ years, Terry Freely Nelson of Marion; a daughter, Angelisa Marie Hosfield and her fiancé Robby Bowden of Marion; a son, Terry Carter Nelson and his wife Whitney of Marion; two sisters, Darleen Margaret Slater and her husband Craig of Illinois and Theresa Ann Flaherty and her husband Ted of Florida; four grandchildren who were her pride and joy, "Alex" Alexandra Marie, Charlotte Yvonne, Juliette Annastasia, and Terry Carter Freely; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter B. Nelson and his wife Elaine, Teresa J. Nelson, Bonnie S. Martin and her husband Paul, Alonza G. Nelson, and Mark K. Nelson and his wife Valarie; a special niece, Sarah K. Nelson who she thought of as a daughter; a special friend, Charles "Barley" Cullen; her caregiver, Shelly Pruitt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 2 PM at the American Legion Post #16 in Crisfield. Covered dishes are welcomed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Lower Somerset County Ambulance and Rescue Squad, LSCARS, P.O. Box 406, Crisfield, MD 21817 or Marion Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 143, Marion Station, MD 21838.
