Morris Goodman Marsh, 85, of Ewell, Smith Island, passed away at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
Born in Crisfield on October 20, 1940 to the late Calvin and Lydia Marsh, he was raised and lived on Tylerton, MD until he married his wife, Brenda Marsh, then he moved to Ewell. They were married for 62 wonderful years.
He started working on the water after 8th grade to help support his family. He worked on the water for 65 years. He was President of the Tangier Waterman’s Association for two years and enjoyed telling jokes at the Waterman’s dinners. He was inducted into the Waterman’s Hall of Fame in 2010 and emceed that event for years.
Morris was saved in 1971 at Camp Meeting and loved the Lord, and was very faithful to his church. He taught the teenage Sunday School class for years and filled in for the adult class when needed, and often spoke in the night services. He was Lay Leader for several years and also held other offices in the church.
He was an advocate for all and didn’t mind speaking his mind when he thought something was wrong. His favorite pastime was reading his Bible and other religious books, and watching Westerns.
He is survived by his wife Brenda Joyce Harrison Marsh of Ewell; son, Wm. Allen Marsh and girlfriend Jennifer of Ewell; brother, Sam Marsh and wife Linda of Westover; grandchildren, Andrew Marsh of Salisbury, Madison Parks of Rhodes Point, Lydia Marsh, Jessie Marsh, and Emma Marsh, all of Salisbury; grand dogs, Sophie and Lottie; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Morris Edward Marsh; daughter, Darlene “Little Doll” Parks; brothers and sisters-in-law, Calvin Marsh, Jr. and wife Gloria, James Marsh and wife Evelyn, and Reese Marsh and wife Shirley; and sister and brother-in-law, Stella Bruce and husband Carson.
Funeral services will be held at Ewell United Church on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 2 PM. Viewings will be held at the church on Tuesday from 7-9 PM and an hour prior to the service on Wednesday. The Reverends Orlando Short, David Webster, and Jim Evans will officiate the service and interment will follow in Ewell Church Cemetery.
