Obituary

Mina Rae Laird, 83, of Tylerton, Smith Island, died Monday, August 11, 2014 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.

Born February 2, 1931 on Tylerton, she was a daughter of the late Todd and Margaret Evans Marshall. Her husband, Ronald Reed Laird, died January 19, 1980.

A homemaker, she was a member of Union United Methodist Church where she was active in the UMW, and was a member of the Tylerton Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She loved flowers, working in her yard, and taking care of her home. She also had a great love and concern for her community and how it looked. She was diligent about making sure her island was cared for and was well-known for her efforts.

She is survived by three sons and their wives, Larry and Marge Laird of Tylerton, Terry and Donna Jean Laird of Ewell, and Tony and Debbie Laird of Crisfield; a brother, Fred Marshall of Tylerton; a sister, Diane Brumley of Eden; five grandchildren, Larry Laird, Jr. and wife Patti, Paula Harrison and husband Buck, Terry Laird, Jr., Ruth Ann Smith and husband Lee, and Randy Swift and wife Nicole; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor Laird, Harold Frock, Timmy Frock, Kara Harrison, Wyatt Harrison, Allison Swift, and Paige Swift; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Marshall, and a sister, Edna Witt.

Funeral services officiated by Rev. Rick Edmund will be Friday, August 15, 2014 at 2 PM at Union U. M. Church on Tylerton. A viewing will be held Thursday morning from 10-11 AM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield and Thursday evening from 7-9 PM at the church on Tylerton. Interment will be in Union Church Cemetery.

Mina's sons and grandson will provide transportation for funeral passengers and will depart the Crisfield City Dock Friday at 12:30 PM and return following the services.
