MINA A. EVANS, 87, of Ewell, Smith Island, died Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury.
Born on Ewell May 18, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Willis and Myrtle Evans. Her husband, Filmore B. Evans, preceded her in death on August 4, 1985.
She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Ewell United Methodist Church where she played piano for many years and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the MAC Center. She loved her family, her church, her home, and her Smith Island heritage. She always looked forward to camp meeting on the island and spoke of it often, and loved being with her family all the time. She was a very giving and loving person who will be missed by all who knew her.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by four children, Bonnie E. Austin and her husband Sean of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, Raymond Chelton Evans and his wife Sandra of Salisbury and Smith Island, Reba Avalon Tyler of Ewell, and Filmore B. Evans, Jr. and his wife Sheila of Crisfield; 12 grandchildren, William Austin, Craig Austin and his wife Mary, Shelley Jones and her husband Bob, Steve Evans and his wife Dana, Greg Evans and his wife Mary Louise, Darrell Tyler and his wife April, Dale Tyler and his wife Janet, Deric Tyler, Mary Angela Evans, Jason Evans and his wife Megan, Andrew Marshall, and Jenny Marshall; 18 great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Luke Austin, Hunter and Logan Jones, Stephanie, Stephen and Skylar Evans, Eva Morvillo, Gregory, Nicholas and Noah Evans, Lauren Lee, Ashley, Adrienne and Brett Tyler, and Ryan, Jason, Jr. and William Evans; three great-great-grandchildren, Ryan and Robbie Morvillo, and Mariah Lee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Frances Kitching and Lula Marshall.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 2 PM at Ewell United Methodist Church on Smith Island. Friends may call Tuesday from 10-11 AM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield and 7-9 PM at the church on Ewell. Interment will be in the Ewell Church Cemetery.
A special boat for funeral passengers, "Twister", will depart the marina in Crisfield Wednesday at 12:30 PM and return at 5 PM.
