Obituary

Miles Edgar Brittingham, 84, of Marion, died peacefully at home Wednesday, December 10, 2014 after a long illness.

Born in Crisfield August 28, 1930, he was a son of the late John and Daphne Horsey Brittingham. His step-mother, Melba Justice Brittingham, also preceded him in death.

A retired farmer, "Montie" was a devoted member of Faith Fellowship Assembly of God in Crisfield where he was an usher and active in the Royal Rangers. He was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for church fundraisers and family dinners. He was a very good carpenter who could build anything and often donated his skills to help with church renovations and projects, and he also built several of his family member's homes. He loved gardening, planting trees, fishing, feeding birds, and traveling with his wife. He was a kind, gentle, and generous man who loved helping people and would do anything for anyone. Most of all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family dearly.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Norma Lee Evans Brittingham of Marion; two children, Vickie Benton and husband Delmas of Dames Quarter and Miles Edgar Brittingham, Jr., and wife Libby of Crisfield; four grandchildren, Christine Price and husband John and Stephen Wagner and wife Kelly, all of Westover, Christopher Brittingham and wife Shannon of Wichita, Kansas and Michael Brittingham of Crisfield; eight great-grandchildren, Brandon, Isaac, Emma, Ava, Matthew, Trace, Audrey, and Camden; a special brother and caregiver, Wellington "Pal" Brittingham of Marion; a brother, Donald Brittingham and wife Geraldine of Canton, Georgia; a sister, Shirley Abbott and husband Sam of Cleveland, Tennessee; a sister-in-law, Ruth Brittingham of Marion; a special niece and caregiver, Bobbie Jean "Bunk" Tull of Marion; many other nieces and nephews; his special caregivers, Jeannie Loveland, Ruth Diggs, Sherima Bell, Margaret Dize, and Rosemary Davis; and his special nurse, Barbie Morgan.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John "Jack" Brittingham, Charles T. Brittingham, and Bobby Lee Brittingham.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where a viewing will be one hour prior. Pastor Matthew Boldizsar will officiate. Interment will follow in the Brittingham Family Cemetery.
