MICHAEL D. McCOY, 77, of Westover, died Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Born in Baltimore, he was a son of the late Harold and Mildred Campbell McCoy.
He was retired from the US Navy with 20 years of service, and later retired from BARR Freightliner in Delmar. He was a founder of the Sarah B. Theatre, associate member of Hadassah, was a volunteer for the Jewish National Fund, and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Bernice Sloan McCoy; six children, John, Linda, Margaret, Dixie, Nelson and Tim; two brothers, Bobby McCoy and wife Judy, and Joseph McCoy; a sister-in-law, Mary Sue Sloan; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William McCoy; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev.'s Nolan Ford and Ruth Chamberlain will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock.
