Obituary

MARY ELLEN WELLS LEWIS, 72, of Salisbury, died Friday, October 24, 2008 at her home.

Born in Crisfield on November 13, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Howard B., Sr. and Kathryn Harbaugh Wells. She had been making her home in Salisbury for the past 20 years.

A graduate of Crisfield High School, she was a social worker working with unwed mothers and the elderly at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She retired after 20 years.

She truly loved her job, and enjoyed helping others. She was also very thankful for the special care she received and the relationships she developed with her caregivers during the last few months of her life.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her husband, Samuel James Lewis, Jr.; two sons, Jeffrey Scott Lewis and his wife, Sherry Lynn, of Delmar and Tracy Mark Lewis and his wife, Sarah Elizabeth, of Hebron; two grandchildren, Kevin Michael Lewis of Hebron and Emmaline Katherine Lewis of Delmar; a brother, Charles H. Wells of Crisfield; and her special friends, Joyce Abbott Granger and the late Gene H. Granger, of Salisbury and their family.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry George Wells and Howard B. Wells, Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Philip Morris will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
