MARY ELIZABETH LANDON, 92, of Crisfield, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 12, 2008 at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield.
Born in Crisfield on December 28, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth (Whittington) Riggin who died during the flu epidemic in 1918, and the late William Paul Riggin.
She retired in 1981 from Rubberset Corp. in Crisfield where she worked for ten years.
As a child, Mrs. Landon attended the First Baptist Church in Crisfield, where, in 1922, she joined the other members who marched from the old church on Maryland Avenue to the newly constructed Baptist Temple on Somerset Avenue. Later, she became a member of the Somerset Free Methodist as well.
She loved and was very devoted to her family, friends, and her Lord. For the past several years, has also enjoyed the company of her beloved dog, Sadie.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Somers and her husband John, with whom she made her home; her granddaughter, Elizabeth "Liza" (Somers) Wooster and her husband Kevin; her grandson, John Daniel Somers and his wife Amy (Tyler); her great-grandson, Brooks Wooster; and her sister-in-law, Lois Riggin, all of Crisfield; two special friends, Joyce Justice of Crisfield and Ada Creamer of Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Paul Riggin, Jr.
Funeral services will he held Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 2 PM at Somerset Free Methodist Church in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Samuel Horner will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
