Mary Louise Green, 95, of Crisfield, died Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.

Born in Crisfield on September 19, 1928, she was the only child of Rodney Eugene Nelson and Maude Evelyn Riggin Nelson.  Her husband, James Blaine "J.B." Green, preceded her in death on September 10, 1995.

A graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1945, she was a homemaker and prior to marriage was a secretary at the former Evans Packing Company.

She was a faithful member of Rehoboth Presbyterian Church where she was Deacon and Elder, served on the Church Session Board, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and volunteered by cooking meals and delivering to shut-ins which she felt was her calling.  She also volunteered at Peninsula Regional Cardiac Rehab and when her husband was President of the Marion Lions Club she volunteered preparing meals for meetings and with BBQ fund-raisers.  She was an excellent cook and she enjoyed cooking for others.

She is survived by her daughter, Eloise Green Preas and husband Harold G. Preas, Jr. of Lynchburg, VA; her son, Jeffrey Eugene Green and wife Paula Green of Marion; grandchildren, Caroline Ashley Preas Siemer and husband Matt of Fuquay Varina, NC, Anne Elizabeth Preas of Seattle, Washington, and Lauren Michelle Green of Cambridge; and her close friends, Neva Rae Howard of Marion and Lana McCready of Crisfield.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Candace Lynn Green on November 22, 1987 and Crystal Lynn Bozman on June 24, 1981.

A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at Rehoboth Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Vijay Karumbunathan and the nurses and staff at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home for their support and wonderful care they provided to their mother/grandmother.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that all donations be made to the National Alzheimer's Association.
