MARY FRANCES DIZE, 87, of Crisfield, died Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.

Born in Crisfield August 12, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Melvin and Ruth Landon Purcell. Her husband, William H. Dize, Sr., died July 1993.

She retired from Rubberset Corp. in Crisfield after many years.

She was a member of Somerset Free Methodist Church in Crisfield and was active in the Crisfield AARP. She loved spending time with her friends. She also was a supporter of St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

She is survived by three sons, Terry L. Dize and William "Chippie" Dize, Jr. and his wife Sandy, all of Crisfield and Richard L. Dize of Berlin; a granddaughter, Shaun Dize Updike and her husband Frank of Queen Annes, MD; a great-grandson, Krue Updike of Queen Annes; a sister, Betty Ellis of Saxis; a former daughter-in-law, Libby Dize of Columbia, MD; and nieces and nephews, Rick and Grady of Saxis, Ruth and Frances of Salisbury, Cecilia of Virginia, and Butch of Florida.

Following donating her body to science, memorial services will be held Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Somerset Free Methodist Church in Crisfield. Rev. Sam Horner will officiate. Urn interment will be held at a later date in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be sent to Somerset Free Methodist Church, c/o 26935 Holly Avenue or Tawes Nursing Home Activities Fund, 201 Hall Highway, both Crisfield, MD 21817.
