Mary Victoria Burton, 79, of Crisfield and formerly of Baltimore, died Saturday, March 10, 2012 at her home surrounded by her devoted daughters and sons-in-law.

Born in Kentucky on June 6, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Hettie Stallard Hall. Her husband, Thomas Burton, preceded her in death in 2002. She had been making her home in Crisfield since 1986.

A loving and devoted mother, she is survived by five children, Debra Kaye Sanner and husband Barry of Tennessee, Glenn Crossman Whitaker, Jr. and wife Gail of Tennessee, Portia LaRae Wright and husband Denver of Crisfield, Dianna Renee Howard and husband Clarence of Crisfield, and James Emery Whitaker of Baltimore; a brother, Walter Hall, Jr. of Florida; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by several step-children, step-grandchildren, and one very special step-daughter, Doreen Day and her husband Chuck.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimla Faye Whitaker on October 1, 1972; and several brothers and sisters.

Cremation followed her death. No services are planned at this time.
