MARY ALICE SHORES, 81, of Tangier Island, affectionately known as "Bubs", went to be with the Lord Monday, October 18, 2010 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield following a lengthy battle with alzheimers dementia.
Born November 6, 1928 on Tangier Island, she was a daughter of the late George Edward and Lola Landon Parks. Her husband, James Edward "Puck" Shores, preceded her in death in 1965.
A graduate of Tangier High School, she was a retired teachers aid. She was a faithful member of the New Testament Church, and loved gardening and bird watching.
She is survived by two sons, Rudy Shores and his wife Carlene, and Russell Shores and his wife Hope, all of Tangier; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother, Ella Parks Wheatley, Jennie Parks Crockett and Edward Vance Parks.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 2 PM at New Testament Church on Tangier where friends may call Wednesday evening from 7-9 PM. Bill Pruitt and Carlene Shores will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
