Obituary

Mary Rebecca "Becky" Tyler, 75, of Crisfield and formerly of Smith Island, died Saturday, October 27, 2024 at her home in Crisfield.

Born in Rhodes Point on May 31, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Bloxom Evans and Norma Aliden Evans Marshall.

Becky was a 1967 graduate of Crisfield High School.  She retired from McCready Hospital where she worked in the Medical Records Department for more than 20 years.  Before that she owned and operated a bar, The Marion Station Buzz Terminal, better known as "Beck's Bar" in Marion for many years and made many good friends there.  She also worked at Carvel Hall, Rubberset, and would often pick and wrap crabs and make Smith Island cakes on the side.  She was a member of the Crisfield Elks B.P.O.E. #1044 and the American Legion Post 16 Auxiliary where she was lovingly known as "the Queen".

Becky loved being with her family and spending time at the Legion with her friends.  She loved watching football and participating in the family football pool.  She loved her granddogs, Leonard and Arthur and was often seen riding the strip, usually with Leonard by her side.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie and husband Randy Laird III of Crisfield; two Grandsons Randy Laird IV and fiancée Miranda Conner, and Thomas Laird of Crisfield; one sister Tina Evans Corbin and husband Ronnie of Tylerton; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 13 years, Homer Tyler Jr.; siblings Leonard (Lenny) Evans Sr. and wife Peggy, Sandra (Sandy) Thomas, and Marilyn (Mer) Brimer and husband Cliff.

A memorial Service will be held at the American Legion Post 16 on Saturday, November 23rd at 3:00pm.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Becky's memory to the Crisfield Fire Department P.O. Box 591, Crisfield, MD 21817. Becky continued on with her spirit of giving even unto her death by donating her body to science so that she may continue to help others.
