Martin Wayne Crockett, Sr., 74, of Tangier Island, Virginia, died Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland.

Born on Tangier May 23, 1944, he was a son of the late Peter and Mildred Crockett.

He was a waterman and a member of Swain Memorial United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball – especially the New York Yankees, music, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Ella Parks Crockett of Tangier; two children, Martin Wayne "Marty" Crockett, Jr. (Cheryl) of Crisfield, and Hope Crockett Evans (Norwood) of Tangier; a brother, Perry Crockett (Pam) of Crisfield; three grandchildren, Pete Crockett, Cameron Evans, and Lacee Evans; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Martin Wayne Crockett, Jr.; and three brothers, Peter Crockett, Bob Crockett, and Alva Dale Crockett.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 15, 2018 at 2 PM at Swain Memorial United Methodist Church.  Duane Crockett, Denny Crockett, and Rev. Nona Allen will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
