Obituary

Marilyn Reese Atkins, 91, of Crisfield, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.

Born in Crisfield on July 21, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Harvey Ewing and Agnes Nock Reese.

She was a graduate of Crisfield High School Class of 1944, and during WWII she worked at the former Charles D. Briddell Company.  Following the war, she met her husband while working as a soda jerk at the former Davis Pharmacy.  She also was a seamstress at the former Palm Beach Garment Factory, clerk at the former W. T. Grant Company, and manager of the former Scher's in Crisfield.

She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Marion Station and the Women's Christian Group.  She enjoyed watching Jeopardy, crossword puzzles, going to the beach, boating, traveling, and above all, she loved her family.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Martin Atkins, Jr., of Crisfield; children,  William Martin "Marty" Atkins, III of Snow Hill, and Mark Atkins and wife Maron, Linda Wilmer and husband Ken, Mike Atkins, and Lisa Kraus and husband Bill, all of Crisfield; sisters, Marilee Saunders of Crisfield and Mary Gay Adkins and husband Sonny of Marion Station; grandchildren, Jeb Atkins and wife Rebecca, Josh Atkins and wife Casey, Andrea Dryden and husband Willis, Mark Atkins, Jr. and wife Lindsay, Allison Raab, Stacey Horsey and husband Richard, Stephanie Davenport and husband Chris, Aaron Atkins, Hannah Atkins, Noah Atkins, Adam Atkins, Ethan Atkins, Emily Atkins, Brad Kraus, Ryan Kraus, Jennifer Hammond and husband Andre, and Kelly Grundmeier and husband Todd; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service officiated by Father Mike Lokey will be held Friday, August 24, 2018 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Urn interment will follow at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home, 201 Hall Highway, Crisfield, MD 21817 or to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 245, Marion Station, MD 21838.
