Margaret D. Massey, 89, of Crisfield, died on Sunday, June 26, 2011 at the McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield.

Born in Crisfield she was the daughter of the late Olen Daugherty and Carrie Moore Daugherty. Her husband of 68 years, George E. "Junie" Massey, Jr. died on April 12, 2009.

She worked for many years at the former Maryland Unemployment Office in Crisfield. Her memberships included the Immanuel United Methodist Church, Chesapeake Chapter # 28 Order of the Eastern Star, Crisfield Country Club, and the Crisfield Chapter of AARP.

Surviving is a son, Michael Massey and wife Beth of Andover, Mass.; daughter, Christine Allender and husband Don of Bellvue, Col.; grandchildren, Craig Massey and Laura Massey of Andover; brother, Wayne Daugherty and wife Betty of Salisbury; sister, Joyce Linthicum and husband Al of Phoenix, MD; half brother, Roger Daugherty and wife, Jeannie of Mt. Vernon, and cousin, Margaret Sue Strain of Crisfield and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Bradshaw and Sons Funeral Home where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Robert Daniels will officiate and interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.

Mrs. Massey's family wishes to express their appreciation to the entire staff at the Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home for the care, kindness and support during her long residence at the facility.
