Obituary

MARGARET G. LAWSON, 91, of Marion Station, died Monday, September 17, 2007 at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield.

Born in Baltimore on April 17, 1916, she was a daughter of the late John and Bess Ford Sedlmayer. Her husband, Floyd W. Lawson, died July 12, 1993.

A graduate of Crisfield High School's class of 1932, she was employed before World War II at the former Carvel Hall Cutlery in Crisfield, working for more than 40 years until her retirement in 1984. She founded and was manager of the Cutlery Outlet store there.

She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Crisfield where she was Sunday School Director for many years, active in the WMU, JOY Club, and Choir and was a Sunday School Teacher. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening.

She is survived by three sons and their wives, Glenn and Virginia Lawson of Newburn, North Carolina, W. Grant "Hon" and Yvonne Lawson of Marion Station and Lawrence B. "Larry" and Taffy Lawson of Wilmington, North Carolina; six grandchildren and their spouses, Denise and David Helfrich of Raleigh, North Carolina, James B. Lawson of Huntington Beach, California, Leslie and Lee Wilson of Marion Station, Michael Grant "Mike" and Lisa Lawson of Crisfield, Monica "Nicki" Lawson of Dallas, Texas and Steven and Melissa Lawson of Arlington, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Angela Helfrich, Sonya Helfrich, Charlotte Wilson, Elijah "Trey" Wilson and Aaron Lawson; one great-great-granddaughter, Emma Wilson-Piskor; one brother, John Sedlmayer of Baltimore; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Black of Baltimore; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Eleanor Lawson, in 1938.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 2 PM at the First Baptist Church in Crisfield. The Rev.'s Jack "Tad" Maroon and Berry McCready will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7-9 PM also at the First Baptist Church. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery in Crisfield.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are requested to be sent to Lower Somerset County Ambulance and Rescue Squad, LSCARS, P.O. Box 406 or to Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home Building Fund, 201 Hall Highway, both Crisfield, Maryland 21817.
