Marcus George Good, 94, of Crisfield and formerly of Charlestown, died Monday, July 30, 2018 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.
Born in Shrewsbury, PA December 11, 1923, he was a son of the late Jacob and Jessie Long Good. Orphaned at the young age of 4, he was then raised by his aunt and uncle, the late Zay and Murray Hake. He met the "Love of his life", Doris Eileen Heckert, while ice skating at Hershey Park and they married on July 28, 1946. She preceded him in death on July 18, 2014 after 68 years of marriage.
He attended Penn State Aeronautical School and enlisted in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He trained at Dallas Aviation Air College and deployed to the 14 th Air Force in the Republic of China under Major General C. Chennault. Chennault then personally put him in charge of all aircraft "trouble shooting".
His love for flying continued after the war, owning four planes of his own. His favorite was the Republic Seabee. He "Buzzed" many boating friends and flew under the Chesapeake City Bridge.
A man of many talents, adventure, and endless ambition, Mr. Good was involved in numerous businesses including, Good & Stoner Construction, and a pile driving/dredging business building many Marina's on the North East River including his own, Sea Mark Marine in Charlestown, MD. He was also involved in the Rumbley Point Campground, and Crisfield Propeller.
He is survived by his children, Mark Good/Donna Milliner and Jill Rayfield/Charles, all of Crisfield; and a sister, Elizabeth Sneade of Princess Anne.
He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister, William Good and Marie Good.
He left a wonderful legacy to his family and all that knew him. "His gifts to us were the ability to appreciate the beauty of nature. With every sunset, we will think of you."
