Marchan R. Ball, 61, of Salisbury, died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Easton August 15, 1950, and raised in Federalsburg, he was the son of the late William Chandler and Marion Elizabeth Kitselman Ball.
He was a graduate of North Dorchester High School class of 1968, and obtained his BA degree in history education from Salisbury State College.
A retired teacher, he taught at Wicomico Middle School for 35 years. Following retirement, he worked four years at the Wicomico County Board of Education and also at Salisbury University as a school liaison and intern supervisor. He was a member of the Wicomico County Education Association.
Marchan was an avid reader and writer, and he loved all his "grandchildren".
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Debra Daugherty-Ball of Salisbury; his mother-in-law, Charlotte Daugherty of Crisfield; his special friends, Gary and Pam Eskridge, and Craig Ellis, all of Galestown, MD and G. Carroll Thamert of Salisbury. He is also survived by many special family friends, the Cottingham and Campbell families of Salisbury, the Witt family of Princess Anne, the Gresick family of Catonsville, and James Cook of Salisbury.
A celebration of his life will be held Friday, March 23, 2012 at 7 PM at Wicomico Middle School, 635 E. Main Street, Salisbury, MD. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.
