Obituary

LUCILLE PEARL KELLY, 88, of Marion, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the home of her son.

Born in Crisfield June 11, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur Sherman Byrd and Christean Virginia Sparrow Byrd. Her husband, Sherwood M. Kelly, who was a barber in Crisfield for many years, preceded her in death April 22, 1972.

She was a homemaker and also worked for several years at the former Kent Pharmacy in Crisfield. She attended the Crisfield Church of God and the Crisfield Wesleyan Church.

A lover of the outdoors and nature, she enjoyed plants, flowers and gardening. She liked to read, and was a loving and thoughtful person who had a great love for life.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherlou Faye Kelly Pruitt, a 4th grade school teacher on Tangier Island; her son, John Sherwood "Jack" Kelly, a retired state corrections officer, and his wife Sarah Jane Kelly of Crisfield; three grandchildren, Carolyn Ann Pruitt and Kenneth Kelly Pruitt, both of Manassas, VA and Steven T. Kelly of Salisbury; three great-grandchildren, Jessica, Sean and Anthony Kelly; a granddaughter-in-law, Eleanore Kelly of Salisbury; a special family member and friend, Connie Cox of Crisfield; cousins, Nevelyn Evans of Delmar, MD, John Evans, Jr. of Florida, Nevitta Ruddy of Glen Burnie, Betty Jean Daugherty and Mary Jane Schwartz of Salisbury, Gerald "Jerry" Pusey of Hebron, Paul Ward, Marijean Crockett, and Jackie Lawson of Crisfield, Brenda Rooks of Wilmington; several other relatives; and numerous friends on Tangier Island.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Elizabeth Culp; and her son-in-law, Kenneth Ray Pruitt, Jr. who died January 3, 2010.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 1 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 PM. The Rev.'s Philip Morris and Harvey Tyler will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
