Obituary

Lois Lucille Matthews, 87, of Crisfield, died Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.

Born in Crisfield on November 17, 1934, she was one of nine children of Preston and Emma Trader Hinman. Her husband, James "Jim" Matthews, Sr., preceded her in death on March 7, 2009.

A graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1952, she was a homemaker and a member of Asbury U. M. Church, and the ladies auxiliary's of the Stanley Cochrane Post #16 American Legion, Crisfield Elks Lodge #1044, and the former VFW Post #8274.

Lois enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and she loved having a good time.

She is survived by her son, Jim Matthews, Jr. and wife Bonnie of Crisfield; grandchildren, Brian Matthews and Fiancé Destiny Hill of Crisfield and Gabrielle Matthews of Crisfield; great-grandchildren, Zachary Hill and Kaileigh Matthews; her best friends, Charlene Linton and husband Tommy of Florida and Betty Bradshaw of Crisfield; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Audrey, Mary, Harold, Bobby, Billy, Donnie, Sammy, and Richard.

A graveside funeral service and interment officiated by Reverend LeBron Palmer will be Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 1 PM at Sunnyridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Living Hope Ministries of the Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 89, Marion Station, MD 21838.
