LOIS GUNDLING JUSTICE, 64, of Crisfield, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.
Born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania on November 30, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Donald E. and Esther Cooley Cale. Her first husband, Dr. James Leonard Gundling, died April 1, 1985.
She graduated from Grace College in Indiana and Mt. Sinai School of Nursing in New York. A registered nurse, she was also a retired co-owner of the former Kent Pharmacy in Crisfield with her first husband.
A member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, she was a member and past president of the Stanley Cochrane Post #16 American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of the Ladies of the Elks B.P.O.E. #1044, all in Crisfield. She was active in the National Hard Crab Derby Association, was a past Cub Scout Den Mother, and helped charter the Lower Somerset County Ambulance and Rescue Squad. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and enjoyed helping people.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Randall S. Justice of Crisfield; a daughter, Jennifer Gundling Landon and husband Wallace "Bunk", Jr. of Princess Anne; a sister, Sandra D. Shoemaker of Uniontown; three grandsons, Joshua Kyle, Christopher James, and Timothy Caleb; a niece, Susan R. Shoemaker of Morgantown, West Virginia; a nephew, Jonathan E. Shoemaker of California; aunts, Mary Jeffreys of Uniontown and Lucy Sommers of Crisfield; brothers-in-law, Ralph S. Justice of Crisfield and Rev. Arthur F. Justice and wife Arlene of Edgewood, Maryland; very special cousins, Dan and Dollie Ann Harrison of Crisfield; a very close friend, Mark Wigglesworth of Marion Station; and many other family members.
Along with her parents and her first husband, she was preceded in death by her son, James Louis Gundling on March 2, 1996 and her brother-in-law, Harold Shoemaker.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 25, 2008 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call Thursday evening from 7-9. The Rev. Arthur Justice will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
