LINDA FAYE WALSTON, 64, of Marion Station, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on July 12, 2009 from Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.
Born on June 8, 1945 in Crisfield, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Olive Landon Hickman.
She leaves behind her two adoring and loving sons, Ralph Lester Walston, Jr. and wife Kim of Marion and Randall Lee Walston and wife Jill of Salisbury. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Ralph Walston, III, Michael Walston, Hannah Walston, Caleb Walston, Meredith Walston, Brock Skinner and Trey Skinner.
She is also survived by two brothers, Louis Hickman, Jr. and wife Jeannie of Crisfield and Larry Hickman and wife Sandy of Pocomoke; two sisters, Roseanne Hinman and husband Michael and Bobbi Jean Somers, both Crisfield; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lois Walston, Wayne Walston and wife Sue, Kenny Walston and wife Sheila, Linda Rupert and husband Eddie, Gayle Hiddleson and husband Vic, all of Cleveland, Tennessee and Debbie Lawson and husband Leo, Jan Adams and husband Don, and Steve Walston and wife Linda, all of Crisfield; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her soul mate and love of her life, her husband, Ralph Lester Walston, Sr. who died July 9, 1988; and his parents, Wally and Irene Walston, both of whom she loved dearly and a sister, Elsie Marie Hall.
Most precious to Linda was her two sons, Les and Randy. She considered being their mother her greatest accomplishment. She was happiest when she was with them and their families. She was well known for her cooking too, most especially her crab cakes and more recently her 150 year old recipe for chocolate cake. She was also quite a prankster with a wonderful sense of humor. You never knew just when she might make you laugh or play a joke on you. Linda was also an accomplished pianist.
She was a faithful servant to her Lord and attended church with both her sons and their families. She was a member of the Parkway Church of God in Salisbury since 1970. There she ministered in music, puppet ministry, and Sunday school. She would later attend the Crisfield Church of God where she served as a Sunday school teacher, children's church worker, and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed visiting area churches where she would minister in song as well.
Services will be held for Linda on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 1 PM at the Crisfield Church of God in Crisfield, MD, with Rev. Lebron Palmer officiating. She will then be laid to rest with her husband, Ralph, at the Sunnyridge Memorial Park. You may visit with the family Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home. There will be no visitation prior to services at the church. Pallbearers will be Louis Hickman, Jr., Larry Hickman, Nick Sterling, Ben Disharoon, Dave Emely, and Kenny Walston.
