Linda Evans Sterling, 81, of Crisfield, died Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.

Born in Crisfield on March 30, 1942, she was raised on Smith Island until the age of 11.  She was the daughter of the late Roland and Lucille Tyler Evans.  Her husband, Bobby Gene Sterling, Sr., preceded her in death on May 19, 1995.

She worked for Somerset County Public Schools in the cafeteria and retired after 25 years of service.  She was a faithful member of Immanuel United Methodist Church for more than 60 years and was very active in the United Methodist Women.  A great part of her life was her devotion to her church and instilling that in her children.

Linda was a talented cook and was well-known for making Smith Island cakes.  She graciously baked cakes for family, friends, and for church events.  She also loved Southern Gospel music, especially the Gaithers. Most of all, she was a devoted and supportive mother who loved and cared her family dearly.

She is survived by five sons, Jeffrey Sterling of Crisfield, Stephen Sterling and wife Trudy of Seaford, DE, Bennett Troy Sterling of Crisfield, Shaun Sterling and wife Tricia of Marion, and Bobby Gene Sterling of Crisfield; a brother, Woody Evans of Crisfield; 14 grandchildren, Kimberly, Katrina, Jackie, Megan, Jeffrey, Jr., Amanda, Heather, Stephen, Katie, Troy, Jr., Nicolas, Noah, Mikayla, and Nolan; 19 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Jennifer DeVage of Salisbury.

A funeral service officiated by Rev. Stephen Willing will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a visitation will be one hour prior.  Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
