Linda M.
Holland
Feb 24, 1946 — Aug 12, 2026
Pocomoke
Linda M. Holland, 80, of Pocomoke, passed to her heavenly home on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Robert N. and Gertrude Davidson Basler of Hampstead, MD. She and her husband, Ken, greatly enjoyed hosting many holiday family gatherings. Linda most looked forward to outings at the ocean, where she practiced her favorite sport: jumping the waves with her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook, sing, compose poems to honor others, and play board games and card games with family and friends. She had a ready laugh and a wonderful sense of humor.
Linda was a graduate of North Carroll High School in Greenmount, MD, and Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD. She enjoyed substitute teaching in Worcester Co. public schools for a number of years.
Linda loved the Lord and served as a Sunday School teacher and superintendent, elder, and choir member at Pitts Creek Presbyterian Church and as a deacon at Holly Grove Mennonite Church. Planning children’s programs was a special joy for her. Concern for others in need led her to being a member of the Samaritan Shelter Board of Directors and the Gideons Auxiliary. In later life, she participated in Friendship Bible Study in Westover, MD, and in Salisbury’s Community Bible Study as children’s director.
During early married life, Linda helped support her husband’s Glad-Mar Dairy by feeding calves and conducting farm tours to school and civic groups. She represented Worcester County at Maryland Farm Bureau Women’s meetings and with the Maryland Holstein Association. Linda was the coordinator of the Lower Shore MD Dairy Princess program for several years.
As a parent, she functioned as a PTA president of Pocomoke Elementary School and parent-teacher chair at Holly Grove Christian School. As a mother and grandmother, Linda enjoyed working as a Worcester County 4-H leader for thirteen years. During this time, she and Ken served on the Worcester Co. Extension Advisory Board.
When her children were older, Linda worked as Director of Career Services at Woodridge Business Institute (five years), Shore Up! Inc. (ten years), and Wor-Wic Community College (six years). While at Shore Up! Linda was designated as “Businesswoman of the Year” by the Salisbury Business and Professional Women.
Also, later in life, Linda assisted her son Dan and daughter-in-law Laura’s Chesapeake Bay Dairy with customer service.
Linda is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Kenneth; sisters Jane Lippy (Scott) of Frederick, MD, and Doris Zepp (Milton) of Westminster, MD; sons Dan Holland (Laura) of Pocomoke, MD, and David Holland (Christine) of Cedar Hill, TN; daughter Lana Pieczynski (Bill) of Dudley, MA; grandchildren Chloe Holland (A.J. Kawczynski), Isabella Witzke (Joseph), Roman Holland, Tierra Watkins, Joel Holland (Chloe), Rebekah Holland, Olivia Hubele (Matthew), Luke Holland, Will Pieczynski, Joe Pieczynski, and Sam Pieczynski; and a great grandson, Rowan Hubele. They all have many cherished memories of their beloved wife, Mom, and Nana.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, R. Davidson “Dave” Basler, and his wife, Loretta, of Hampstead, MD.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, at Holly Grove Mennonite Church in Westover, MD. Visitation prior to the service is from 1:30 to 3:00, and interment at Pitts Creek Presbyterian Church cemetery will follow the service. A reception will then take place at Holly Grove at approximately 5:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holly Grove Mennonite Church, 7333 Mennonite Church Rd., Westover, MD 21871.
