Lester "Brooks" Linton, 80, of Crisfield, and formerly of Pocomoke City, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.
Born in Saxis, Virginia on November 18, 1932, he was the only child of Harry and Edna Earl Evans Linton. His wife of 35 years, Kay F. Linton, preceded him in death on October 1, 2005. He had been making his home in Crisfield for the past eight years.
A graduate of Atlantic High School in Oak Hall, Virginia, he was a retired meat cutter for the former A&P grocery stores, working at various stores in the area.
Brooks was a founding member of the Tabernacle Worship Center Church of God in Westover where he was a Councilman. He loved to sing at church and at home and he loved being with his family. In his younger years, he was an avid softball player and was well-known for his fast pitching.
He is survived by his oldest daughter, Cathy L. Cox and husband Greg of Crisfield; triplets, Bonnie L. Bunting, Billy L. Brittingham and wife Bea, and Bobby L. Brittingham and wife Terri, all of Pocomoke City; four granddaughters, Christie Cox Sterling, Ashley Bunting, Jessica Brittingham, and Amanda Brittingham; five step-grandchildren, Christy Foxwell, Pamela Powell, Suann Noto, Mike Lowe, and Jason Clary; several great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Bernis Mears of Delaware, who thought of him as a brother; a special friend, Lorin Wheatley of Crisfield; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his beloved pet dog, "Cody".
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where a viewing will be one hour prior. Bishop Greg Cox will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery.
