Obituary

LEONARD STANLEY "LENNY" EVANS, SR., 67, of Ewell, Smith Island, Maryland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Rhodes Point, Smith Island, he was a son of the late Leonard B. Evans and Norma A. Tyler Evans Marshall.

A graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1961, he was a waterman and member of Ewell United Methodist Church. He was also a former member and Assistant Chief of of Ewell Volunteer Fire Dept., was a former EMT, and former Boy Scout Scout Master.

He loved his family, and enjoyed computer flight simulator games, flying model airplanes and going to air shows.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 46 years, Peggy Brimer Evans of Ewell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lenny Evans, Jr. and wife Mary Beth of Chestertown and Darren B. Evans and wife Leah of Salisbury; four sisters, Sandy Thomas, Marilyn Brimer and Becky Tyler, all of Crisfield, and Tina Corbin of Tylerton, Smith Island; four grandchildren, Rochalla Higdon of Queenstown, Megan Evans of Chestertown, and Haylie Evans and Colby Evans of Salisbury; two great-great-granddaughters, Lilly Higdon and Gabrielle "Gabby" Higdon; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 2 PM at Ewell United Methodist Church. The Rev. Rick Edmund will officiate. Friends may call Friday from 10-11 AM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield and from 7-9 PM at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

There will be a special boat for funeral passengers, Capt. Jason II, leaving the City Dock at 12:30.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Ewell U. M. Church, Ewell, MD 21824.
