LaVERNE G. DIZE, 86, of Crisfield, and formerly of Baltimore and Tangier Island, died Monday, October 4, 2010 at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield.
Born in Baltimore on January 2, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Lillian and Nelson Ensey. She had been making her home in Crisfield for more than 20 years, and prior, lived on Tangier Island, Virginia for 11 years.
She was a member of the Church of God in Gambrills, Maryland and attended Swain Memorial United Methodist Church while on Tangier Island. Her family was her life; she loved them all dearly. She also loved to help people and enjoyed her telephone ministry telling friends about the Lord. She was loved by all who knew her and she loved them too.
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, William L. "Bill" Dize of Crisfield; six children, JoAnn Costa of Crisfield, William L. Dize, Jr. and wife Kathy of Pasadena, Wayne Dize and wife Mary of Arbutus, Mahlon Dize and wife Anna of Crownsville, Evelyn Dorman and husband Perry of Crisfield and Norman Dize and wife Denise of Florida; a daughter-in-law, Susan Dize of Baltimore; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Nelson Ensey, Jr., Norman Ensey, Dorothy Mae Gaston and Juanita Myers.
Friends may call at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield Friday, October 8, 2010 from 1-2 PM. A procession to the graveside service at Sunnyridge Memorial Park will follow at 2 PM. The Rev. Bob Daniels will officiate.
