Laura S. Brown, 98, of Port Norris, New Jersey and formerly of Crisfield, Maryland and Summit, New Jersey, died Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the home of her granddaughter in Port Norris.
Born in Newark, New Jersey on July 22, 1915, she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret Klahn Percival. She was a resident of Crisfield for 40 years, and lived most of her life prior in Summit.
She was a secretary and administrative assistant at Lincoln Elementary School in Summit working many years until her retirement in 1963. While in Crisfield, she was a member of the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church in Rehobeth, MD. She was also an avid Bridge player.
She is survived by three step-daughters, Carol S. Pitzer of Pinehurst, NC, Elizabeth Sanden of Ridgefield, Conn., and Mary S. Spangler of Burlington, NC; three grandchildren, Cindy Sayre Tawes and husband Jeff of Port Norris, and Travis Sayre and Scott Sayre, both of Crisfield; six step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, Fred Sayre in 1961, August Schneider in 1992, and Ben Brown in 1998; her son, Fred Sayre; her sister, Elsie Corcoran; and her brother, Will Percival.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 2 PM at First United Methodist Church of Port Norris, NJ. Urn interment will be held at a later date in Rehoboth Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
