Kathryn Mae "Kitty" Purnell, 93, of Salisbury, MD and formerly of Cockeysville, MD passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018 at her home.

Born in Hopewell, MD on May 11, 1925, she was a daughter of the late C. Lawson and Hilda Celeste Barnes.

A Crisfield High School graduate of 1943, she was retired from Baltimore Gas and Electric after working 38 years. Prior, she worked for Faucett Publications in Greenwich, CT.

She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Marion Station, MD and was a member and Past High Preistess of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, William Edwin "Bill" Purnell of Salisbury, MD; nieces, Barbara McCready Ward and husband Edison, Jane Taylor, and Wilhelmina Spear; nephews, Robert J. Purnell, Jr., William E. Purnell, II and William J. Purnell; great-nieces, Amanda B. Stevens, Cathy Purnell Love, Theresa Waller, and Lydia Louise Snyder; and brother-in-law, P.J. Purnell and wife Beverly of Crisfield.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Barnes Spear, Hilda Barnes McCready, and Charles Lawson Barnes, Jr.; and niece, Pam McCready.

Services officiated by Rev. Jim Riley will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 1 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a viewing will be one hour prior. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
