Obituary

On Wednesday, November 3, 2021 June "Rose" Messick, 89, of Fruitland and formerly of Hammonton, New Jersey, and Crisfield, closed her eyes at Hartley Hall Nursing Home in Pocomoke to open them in her new permanent address in her heavenly home.

Born in Crisfield on August 21, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Terry Preston and Rose Viola Evans Dize. Her husband, Rev. Jerry Messick, preceded her in death in 2005.

Rose was a retired social worker at Easter Seals in Pleasantville, New Jersey. She was a member of Church of God in Egg Harbor, NJ, where her late husband was pastor.  She played the piano with her self taught, God given talent as she sang and led during the worship services.  She attended Walker Memorial Church of God in Princess Anne once she moved to this area 21 years ago.  Throughout her life she led people to Christ and encouraged others in the faith.  Over the years her home was always welcome to friends & family whether for a visit or to stay.  She loved watching numerous Christian broadcasts, playing games, especially Sudoku and cherished her visits from family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Wanda Emely and husband David of Westover, William Schweizer and wife Linda of Hammonton, NJ; special "daughter," Mabel Knierim and husband Marty of Marion; son-in-law, Wayne Labo; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her children, Terry Schweizer, Jerry Messick, Jr., and Debbie Labo; and sisters, Mabel Dize Landon and Kathryn Dize Abbott.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home at 1 PM. A visitation will be from 12-1. Rev. Tim Shawyer will officiate and interment will follow at Asbury Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Walker Memorial Church of God, P.O. Box 189, Princess Anne, MD 21853.
