Julia Ruark Figgs, 84, of Westover, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Born in Kingston, MD, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Charles Thomas Ruark and Edna Derby Ruark.
A graduate of Marion High School class of 1951, she was a homemaker, caregiver, Tupperware dealer, and restaurant manager, managing the former Pony Ranch in Pocomoke.
Julia was a longtime member and devoted supporter of the Emmanuel Wesleyan Church of Salisbury and the Evangelical Wesleyan Church of Crisfield for more than 54 years. She had a passion for teaching children about Jesus and dedicated over 40 years of her life being involved in the Children's Ministries.
She enjoyed serving and giving to people and used her gifts of cooking and canning as her way of giving back to those whom she loved or were in need.
She was a true matriarch to her family, always giving Godly wisdom and counsel as well as leading by example in her faith and devotion to the Lord.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Roy Figgs, Sr.; four children, Becky Guy(Chris) of Westover, Rev. Ken Figgs(Debbie) of Harrington, DE, Esther Dixon(David) of Westover, and Roy Figgs, Jr.(Lana) of Westover; 11 grandchildren, Carl Anderton, Julie Salvas, Chris Guy, Jr., April Perna, Kristy Figgs, Lisa Smith, Adam Stanley, Andrew Stanley, Taylor Figgs, Sarah Figgs, and Katie Figgs; 4 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Harvey Ruark; and her twin great-grandchildren, Cameron and Carlee.
Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Tom Bunting will be Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 1 PM at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Salisbury where viewings will be held Friday evening from 7-8 and Saturday one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Church Cemetery in Snow Hill.
