Judy Lynne Byrd Evans, 78, of Crisfield, went to Heaven on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware.
Born in Crisfield on April 7, 1948, Judy was the daughter of the late James Robert Byrd Jr. and Pearl Elizabeth Politte Byrd. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years, William Dennis Evans, on March 5, 2004.
A proud graduate of Crisfield High School's Class of 1966, Judy dedicated much of her life to serving her community. She worked as a teacher's aide for the Somerset County Board of Education from 1972 to 1977, with Sears Catalog Sales from 1983 to 1995, and later for the City of Crisfield, where she retired in 2008.
Judy's greatest joy was her family and the many friendships she cultivated throughout her life. She had a warm, welcoming spirit and never met a stranger, cherishing every relationship she formed. An avid reader, she faithfully read her Bible and daily devotionals. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and her beloved grand-dog, Oakley, affectionately known as "Pretty Girl."
She leaves behind her two children, who were so good to her, Darren Lance Evans and Ashley Dennise Evans Parks and her husband, Christopher; three grandchildren, who were the joys of her life, Dennilyn Elizabeth Parks, Ethan Christopher Parks, and Gage Andrew Parks; brother, Richard Lee Byrd; niece, Kristen McLaughlin, her husband, Charlie, and their children, C.J. and Luke; sister-in-law, Carrie Byrd; nephew, Aaron Robert Byrd and his children; several cousins; her Liberty Rock Church family, whom she loved dearly; her forever friend, Donna Sterling, and her beautiful family; special friends, Valerie Swift and her family, and Jacqueline Crockett and her family.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her in-laws, William H. and Virginia Mears Evans; brother, James "Jamie" Robert Byrd, III; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM, with a visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Pastors Kevin Marsh, Stephen S. Willing, and Robert Daniels will officiate. Urn interment will be at a later date in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Liberty Rock Church, 4835 Crisfield Highway, Crisfield, MD 21817; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org/donate; or Somerset County Dog Control, 7922 Crisfield Highway, Westover, MD 21871.
