JUDITH FAYE "JUDY" BYRD, 69, of Crisfield, died Monday, May 18, 2009 at her home.

Born in Crisfield on July 12, 1939, she was a daughter of Gladys Marshall Blades of Crisfield and the late James P. Blades. Her husband, Donald "Sparky" Byrd, died July 1, 1998.

A Crisfield High School graduate of the class of 1958, she was a homemaker and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She also attended the Crisfield Wesleyan Church most recently.

In her younger years she loved to dance. She also loved animals and flowers. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and always had an open ear and a kind word.

She is survived by two daughters and two sons, Teresa Justice Hall of Mason, Ohio, William "Billy" Justice and wife Margie of Crisfield, Laura Evans and husband Buddy of Ewell, Smith Island, and Chris Byrd of Crisfield; nine grandchildren, Alishia Wells, Monica and Sabrina Justice, of Crisfield, Joshua, Matthew and Brandon Hall of Mason, Ohio, Caleb Evans of Ewell, Smith Island, and Morgan Jedlicka and Christopher Byrd of Crisfield; one great-grandchild, Keon Duah of Crisfield; two sisters, Patricia "Patsy" Roman of Virginia Beach, VA, and Beverly Lynch and husband Dale of Pocomoke; one brother, Jim Blades and wife Patti of Pocomoke; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 7 PM at the Crisfield Wesleyan Church where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Bob Daniels will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are requested to be sent to Wesleyan Church, 3071 Lawsonia Road, Crisfield, Maryland 21817.
