Joyce R. Gerald, 87, passed away on February 11, 2007, at Maryview Nursing Care Center in Suffolk, VA.

She was a native of Crisfield, MD, and the daughter of the late Eva Byrd Massey and George Elton Massey. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Edward Gerald, who
passed away in 1996.

Mrs. Gerald was a longtime employee of the State of Maryland and a member of Immanuel Methodist Church in Crisfield where she taught Sunday School for many years.

She is survived by her brother, George E. Massey, Jr., of Crisfield; her only child, Diane Brunk, and her husband, Peter, of Portsmouth, VA; and two grandsons, Berry Brunk and his wife, Susie, of Redmond, WA and Gerry Brunk and his wife, Dawn, of Weston, MA. She is also survived by her great granddaughter, Skylar Starr Brunk, of Weston, MA. Other survivors are two step great granddaughters, three step great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

At her request, there will be no viewing or flowers.

A graveside service and interment will be held on Friday, February 16, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield. Pastor Bill Davis will officiate.

Those who choose to do so may make a memorial contribution in her name to Immanuel Methodist Church Memorial Fund, c/o Mr. Robert Bradshaw Jr., 306 W. Main Street, Crisfield, MD 21817 or a charity of their choice.

Mrs. Gerald's family wishes to express their appreciation to the entire staff at Maryview Nursing Care Center for their care, kindness, and support during her long residence at the facility and especially to Leah Mackey who was her primary caregiver.
