Obituary

Josephine Alma Kountz Parker, age 91, of Marion Station, MD, and formerly Union, WV, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022 at her residence.

Born June 25, 1939 in Salt Sulphur, WV, she was the daughter of the late Aubrey and Ethel McClelland Kountz. Josephine was a loving and caring homemaker. She loved her family dearly. Josephine enjoyed tending to her home and loved to cook for the family. She took great care in canning fresh foods for future use. She also enjoyed her embroidery projects and gardening as well. In her later years, Josephine greatly enjoyed playing with and watching her kitty cats. She loved the Lord and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Percy R. Parker; one son, Russell Coe Parker; two daughters, Catherine Ellen Parker, and Sandra Kay Parker; She was the last surviving sibling of seven children. Also preceding her in death was three brothers, Jesse, William, and Jack Kountz; and three sisters, Mary Kountz, Mabel Graffam, and Virgie Hammonds. Survivors include five daughters, Shirley Parker and husband Jack of Alderson, WV, Alma Grubb and husband George of Union, WV, Deborah Parker of Alderson, WV, Jane Sykes and husband David of Clintonville, WV, and Frances Keohane and husband Sean of Marion Station, MD; four grandchildren, David Lively and wife Missy of Maybrook, VA, Jarod Skyes of Clintonville, WV, Ryan Keohane of Marion Station, MD, and Lindsey Simmons and husband Cameron of Frankford, WV; one great-grandson, Jordan Simmons of Frankford, WV; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022 with Pastor James Deskins, Jr. officiating. Due to the current weather situation, the graveside will be conducted indoors at the Mt. Pleasant Independent Baptist Church on Knobs Road. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Independent Baptist Church Cemetery. The Family will receive friends Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 12:00 noon until time of the service at the Church.
